No gold taps, but got granite sinks at central lib.
You know I was reading the fee-hike response forum on IVLE a few days back and its cool to see so many people expressing their views, some balanced, some, well, just frustrated. Well I share their frustrations la. You know why?Well because we don't really know where our money goes to, right?
Think about it la, for a science undergraduate like me, per year my parents have to pay $6100++. Thats a freaking $508++ per month you know! And that includes our semester break in may-june-july where we DON'T go to school. Wow, that's daylight robbery lah! I mean its not like we use SO MUCH electricity/water, right? I think the department offices use more electricity than us undergrads! And is wireless technology THAT expensive?
Lets say maybe $350 of the $508 goes to the salary of our profs (Provost Tan said 70% what), and TAs. Multiply that by say, 400 students doing chemistry. That's $140 000, balls! Then how about the other $150?
And wow, 2 hikes in 2 years, but LT26 is still as crummy with decomposing seats, LT21 is stuck in the elizabethan era (note the balcony-ish thinger, but its cool la), and Science library is still shitty. So when exactly are the crummy LTs AND the science library getting a facelift? Plus the doors to the Student lounge have been spoilt since God-knows when. Isn't anyone going to fix it?
Plus what's up with upgrading "resources" to increase quality of teaching anyway? The equipment they use in lectures are all pretty normal what.
Well at least NUS isn't using the money to do something ridiculous like adopt a highway in the United States or something. Eh wait, I speak too soon.
