FAMINE CAMP

I just got back from Famine Camp @ Ngee Ann Poly this morning at midnight. I just woke up. Its 3pm already. Wow. I slept like a log. During the 2 day camp, I was deprived from sleep and food. The food part, I don't really mind, cause that's what we attended the famine camp for - to fast for 30 hours. The sleep was because the activities were extended and after bathing and praying and stuff, I had little time to sleep, but i just couldn't fall asleep. MAYBE because Jasmine was high and talked the whole night morning through with me and Halim. There were a few times when i could have dozed off but i was awoken by their laughter. haha. those two can go on for hours.

Ok, ok. so what have I learnt. I'd think this camp was really an eye opener for me. It really showed us the conditions of living of people on this planet. You'd watch the videos on poverty and AIDS and it'll actually strike you that damn! there's really people literally living in a dumpster and nothing's being done about that. There are children who are deprived of education because their parents died of AIDS and they have to work to support their other 7 siblings or so. Children still sucking on their own thumbs, and they have to play the role of a parent. Its just wrong. How can we, on one side of the world be living in such luxury and people on the other are suffering. It just makes me even more thankful of what i have now. Education, family, a nice place to stay and friends who I love. Yikes.

Children there would have to literally scour through a dumpster to find food when we already have food laid nicely on the table, and we still complain. We still are picky of what we eat. I was slapped in the face many times when I actually realised how fortunate we are and some of us aren't even thankful. The next time someone is picky over their food, I'm going to preach. Either that or I'll be really pissed. haha!

I wanna sponsor a child when I get a job.

Oh, before this camp, I had an outing with my primary school friends. It was fun, catching up with them. I'll post the pics up later. I'm still stoned from my 15 hour sleep. Woohoo. Now i'm hungry. I really am.
