Lab!
Today's labday! The first Lab session of the semester! Today we made salicylic acid crystals! It was too fun! I just thought the whole making of the saturated solution was really tedious... Alfian was my fumehood neighbour. Because you know, I'm after him on the namelist.DAMN.
I used to be at the top of the namelist everytime. Well, being at the first fumehood rocks because you're close to the sink, so that makes washing easy. But nevermind, two's good too! He was totally chatting up the really pretty, sweet-looking Australian exchange student at fumehood 4! Tsk tsk.
Alfian had the best crystals man (long needle like ones, compared to mine which were shorter needle like ones). The lab coordinator, Dr Kubal (who totally rocks, btw) was pretty impressed by his crystals and she was really nice to us, helping us with the saturation and stuff.
before putting it on the hot plate.
And you know what was the most exciting part? All the while we were learning Organic Chem back in JC, we just put "reflux" as the condition, but we didn't really know what on earth reflux was. Today I finally knew, because we had to set up our very own reflux system. Cool stuff.
Oh well it was fun while it lasted because now I got to do the freaking lab report (which sucks, by the way).
